Sam Beard

Sam Beard in WWII

Sam served as a Private with 12th Battalion, the Worcestershire Regt in Great Britain and Iceland, 1941-1942; served as an NCO with 173 Battery, 179 Field Regt, Royal Artillery in GB and North West Europe, 1942-1945; served with 130th Field Regt, RA in India, 1945.

He ended the war with the rank of Battery Sergeant Major and continued to serve in the Territorial Army until about 1966.

The Imperial War Museum recorded his memories and gave him a copy on CDs which he very kindly presented to the Guarlford History Group for the village archive.
